Well that was dreadful! After last weeks thumping away at Doncaster I was expecting a similar performance but not going to lie we were dire, a point was a fair outcome and we were lucky! Joe Murphy kept us in much of the game and for that he was a clear man of the match. I hate Preston,  Luke Tenuta Jersey just for the fact they are our bogey team and we never win, least we have another two cracks at it over the season though!The footballing side of things, Mark Robins who turned 43 today named a unchanged side but welcomed back Carl Baker from suspension on a very wet day in Coventry with most games in the league being called off due to waterlogged pitches. The games opening chances were near touches from being put in the net, one from the away side and two for the home side with former Preston player Adam Barton and McGoldrick sliding in. Preston had the best chance though as Graham Cummins shot at goal was parried well by Joe Murphy. After that near escape Coventry went ahead as David McGoldrick shot was deflected and was going out for a corner but Gary McSheffrey picked up the ball on the line and cut the ball back for James Bailey to smash home past German Thorsten Stuckmann for his first goal of the season, glad he scored because he mi sed a sitter last week!  Devin Singletary Jersey The leagues top goal scorer McGoldrick who was very quiet all night nearly scored a spectacular volley as he latched onto a long ball and first time he lashed a volley acro s Stuckmann goal. Coventry road their luck in the run up to half time and should really have been punished as David Amoo ran round the back of the right hand side and headed into the penalty area, one on one with Murphy Ed Oliver Jersey  he shot high and just clipped the bar and out for a goal kick, should really have scored but I wasnt complaining.The home side nearly double the lead after half time as McGoldrick headed over from McSheffreys cro s. Preston changed it with 3 substitutions with John Welsh, Chris Beardsley and Jeffrey Monakana coming on for Andy Procter, Graham Cummins and David Amoo. It paid off as minute after minute of bombarded pre sure on Murphys goal came to a result of Lee Holmes being played through who one on one with Joe Murphy slotted past the Irishman to send 638 Preston fans livid. It got a bit hot tempered as a A.J. Epenesa Jersey  few away fans jumped over the segregation and headed for the Coventry fans with a couple of home fans doing the same thing, the best part of the match, it just made up for the rubbish football! The momentum was clearly with Preston as they nearly went in front with Jack King just heading wide from the Preston left hand side. I think they also hit the bar but I couldnt tell who struck it so my bad! Coventry tried to change it with Carl Baker and Stephen Elliot coming on for Franck Mou sa and Adam Barton. Elliot nearly became a super sub as both the substitutes combined with Baker cro s being headed over by Elliot, think Stuckmann put him off a bit but he should still have hit the target! The game got a bit aggre Tyler Matakevich Jersey  sive with a couple of Preston players loving the floor a bit too much, thats all Ill say. With Steven Jennings and Gary McSheffrey being the only players to be booked over the game I was surprised there wasnt any more! That was it for the game, after that poor performance second half I was happy with a point, fair play to Preston they dominated second half. Just hope this was a blip and we can keep the run going. Positives out of the game? Eight games unbeaten and James Bailey getting his first goal for the club, thats about it really. Should really of took the advantage of most games being postponed but we didnt, tough game against Stevenage on Boxing Day. Just want to say Merry Christmas to whoever reads this!!!! PUSB
