Fashionable to accuse the Italian language of sexism , the past participles, in active verbs, have neither masculine nor feminine. The participle exists and that's it, we can't adjective verbs as we like. But as usual let's move on to the examples: «Daniele you really hit me!» A mysterious girl was hit by me, but not by a stone or a punch. Well, that “hit” is wrong, because it is a past participle and the verb hit is in the active form. What if the verb was in the passive voice? Another example: Having hit the fleet with stones thrown from catapults, the commander gave his soldiers a minute's rest. In this case the feminine is correct, because the complete verb form would be: After the fleet was hit… But if I write: “I saw you naked.” Wrong. Both because it is impolite to embarrass a lady, and because the verb is active and there is also the adjective "naked" which specifies that it is a female body.

Gender change Then there is that vice of linking the adjective Phone Number Data participle to the closest noun, as happens in sentences like this: Hospitals and schools built with poor quality materials. No, even the hospitals, in that case, were built with poor quality materials, so everything is brought to the generalizing masculine tone - always in the face of linguistic sexism - and the correct sentence becomes: Hospitals and schools built with poor quality materials. And then, in the end, they don't say much, just what ruins the surprise and makes you understand what the protagonist will have to do. If I can, I avoid them. Or I just peek, just to understand what genre it is, what kind of story it could be.

What is the function of the text in the dust jacket flaps? To capture the reader's attention, I guess. But this mission can very well be accomplished without revealing the most important part of the book. 6 – No author biography I'm someone who likes to pry into writers' personal affairs.  like to know his year and place of birth and what other novels he has written, when he started writing and what work he does, if he is not a full-time writer. In short, in one of the flaps there is room for a small biography of the author, right? Maybe he also has a website, he's on Twitter or Facebook: do we want to include this information? 7 – Inaccurate translations I'm not talking about titles, the question of titles is quite thorny. We have a way of expressing ourselves that is different from that of other countries and therefore it is normal that, in some cases - some, not all - we prefer to change the title, as also happens in films.
